Peter plays in a number of different ensembles and in a wide variety of styles. In 2016, here are the ways to hear Peter play live. To book any of the groups below or to book him as a solo performer, contact him here.
Solo
As a virtuosic jazz and blues pianist and singer/songwriter, Peter performs on his own in many contexts: from background piano at special events (e.g. wedding receptions, dinners, conferences) to solo concerts and special performances at seniors' residences. Here are two samples of Peter's solo artistry: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HxEMYWt_t_o and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5cEe0Sw2E0
Vibes Trio
Vibes is the trio of singer/percussionist Deneece Marion, virtuoso guitarist Larry Wayne Church and Peter on vocals and piano. The repertoire is rhythm and blues, classic rock and originals. Led by Deneece's charismatic vocals and the sparkling solos of Peter and Larry, The Vibes trio has been playing together since 2019 and perform regularly in the Ottawa area to a faithful fan base that comes out to every performance.
Peter Brown Jazz Trio
From January 2017 to 2019,, Peter played on the third Thursday evening of every month at Slackoni's Parkside Bistro in Perth, Ontario. Peter, along with a drummer and acoustic bassist, plays standards, jazz classics and originals in this intimate setting. The trio plays other events from time to time as well.
Peter Brown Quartet
This very popular group (trumpet, piano, bass, drums) played monthly in Carleton Place, Ontario from 2011 to early 2017, always to a full house of enthusiastic fans. These days, the band can be seen occasionally at the Options Jazz Lounge in the Brookstreet Hotel, Kanata, among other venues. The band plays standards, jazz classics and originals and released a CD, Beautiful Love, of its most popular tunes in 2014. The quartet performs elsewhere also: recent performances include the Merrickville JazzFest in 2014, the Stewart Park Festival (Perth) in 2015 and the Ottawa International Jazz Festival in 2016 and 2017.
The Rockerfellas
Peter has been the keyboard player for this Ottawa Valley blues-rock quintet since 2011. The band plays classics from the '60s (Hendrix, Beatles, Allman Brothers, Bob Dylan, etc), some Chicago blues as well as originals by Brown and bassist Grant Tomkinson (the band also includes percussionists Tom Martel and James States). The self-titled The Rockerfellas CD was released in 2015. Here's a promotional video for the band, featuring Peter on piano and organ: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8uFjM6LC9Xk
The Life Of Pearls
The Life Of Pearls is an entirely original singer/songwriter act featuring the beautiful vocals of lead singer Shann Bailey, the poetry, songwriting and guitar of Timothy Trieste and Peter's piano work. At a Life Of Pearls concert, songs are connected by a philosophical and poetic multimedia narrative in which themes such as Einstein, Carl Jung, modern art, quantum theory, and the meaning of existence all figure into a kind of imaginative and musical TED Talk. It’s an evening of very groovy pop music for the heart and mind. The band's first studio album is due for release in the late 2017 or early 2018 -- here's a preview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZwfWPc_DBw
